Signing of a $150 Million Agreement to Accelerate Digital Transformation

Dr. Fadi Mki, Minister of State for Administrative Development, participated in the signing ceremony of a $150 million U.S. dollar loan agreement between the Lebanese government and the World Bank to finance the project accelerating digital transformation in Lebanon, which was signed by Finance Minister Yassine Jabar, in the presence of World Bank Regional Director Dalia Khalifeh, Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence Dr. Kamil Al-Shahadeh, and the World Bank Representative Office Director in Lebanon.

The Ministry of State for Administrative Development stated in a press release that "the signing of the agreement marks a crucial milestone paving the way for the project's submission to the Parliament for approval and the transition to the implementation phase, representing a significant advancement in the reform process, modernizing public administration, and enhancing its capacity to deliver more efficient and effective services to citizens.

The Ministry of State for Administrative Development will implement and coordinate the project in cooperation with various relevant authorities and institutions, including the Ministry of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, ensuring role integration and accelerating progress toward achieving project objectives," adding: "The project to accelerate digital transformation in Lebanon aims to achieve comprehensive digital transformation in the public sector through developing digital and cloud infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity, updating legal and regulatory frameworks, developing government digital platforms, digitizing priority public services, and enhancing digital skills and capabilities. The project also contributes to simplifying procedures, improving the efficiency and transparency of public administration, facilitating citizens' access to government services, and supporting the development of a more flexible and responsive public administration capable of meeting citizens' needs."

Mki emphasized that "the signing of the agreement represents a key milestone in Lebanon’s digital transformation journey," stressing that "the Ministry of State for Administrative Development will continue working in coordination with all relevant agencies and entities to ensure the project is implemented efficiently and that its goals are translated into tangible results directly benefiting citizens."
