State Security Seizes 10 Electric Generators in Tripoli and Al-Mina Campaign

The General Directorate of State Security announced in a statement that, as part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard Lebanon’s economic security and pursue violations committed by private electricity generator operators, its Northern Regional Directorate carried out inspections in the cities of Tripoli and Al-Mina on August 12 and 14, 2026. The operation was conducted with support from the Special Operations Directorate and in coordination with the Ministry of Economy, following a referral from the Appellate Public Prosecution Office in the North.

Seizures and administrative violations documented

As a result of the inspections, authorities seized eight electric generators belonging to Tripoli Municipality and two belonging to Al-Mina Municipality. In addition, dozens of violation reports were issued against generator operators. These reports cited failures to comply with the official tariff set by the Ministry of Energy, failure to install meters for customers requesting them, and violations related to billing practices and pricing in foreign currency.

Arrests following non-compliance

After an individual identified as (C.M.), one of the private generator operators, refused to hand over a generator to the municipality, State Security forces raided his office and arrested (M.H.), the person responsible for issuing invoices. Legal procedures were subsequently initiated against the involved parties, pursuant to instructions from the competent judicial authorities.
