The Teachers' Union demands the immediate release of a 200 billion Lebanese pound grant for the Compensation Fund and urges the government to include the remaining 450 billion pounds in the 2027 budget.

The Teachers' Union announced in a statement that it "holds the Minister of Finance responsible for failing to disburse the 200 billion Lebanese pound grant approved by law for the Compensation Fund," demanding its "immediate release and completion of transfer procedures without any further delay." The union affirmed that "implementing the law is an obligation on the Ministry of Finance, and the rights of teachers and retirees must not remain hostage to stalling and administrative procedures, especially as the value of these amounts erodes and living burdens on beneficiaries worsen. Approving the grant does not achieve its purpose unless it is disbursed and reaches the Fund."
The union appealed to "the government and the Minister of Finance to include the remaining 450 billion pounds in the draft budget for the year 2027, with clear text and appropriations guaranteeing its disbursement," and called on Parliament to "solidify this commitment when discussing and approving the budget." It stressed that "supporting the Compensation Fund and protecting the rights of teachers and retirees is a responsibility borne by the state, not a favor or a promise that can be postponed."
It concluded by demanding a "schedule for the urgent disbursement of the 200 billion pounds, and a clear commitment to include the 450 billion pounds in next year's budget," affirming that it "will continue to follow up on this file and defend the rights of beneficiaries until full implementation."
