Will Ministerial-Union Meetings Defuse the Fuse of Protests?

The coming week is witnessing a series of demands-based and union movements and strikes after living conditions reached a suffocating level amidst rising prices, most notably fuel prices, and declining purchasing power, unless the anticipated ministerial-union meetings succeed in defusing their fuse.

Prior to next week's meeting of the Index Committee with the General Confederation of Workers and economic bodies, the Federation of Workers' and Employees' Unions in the North held a sit-in in Tripoli, participated in by union bodies from various denominations and employee associations in both the public and private sectors, under the slogan "In defense of our livelihood," through the sit-in. Participants and bus drivers proceeded to block the roads leading to the square.
