Bassat: Syria's Success is Lebanon's Success

Lebanon's Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer al-Bassat, has wrapped up an official visit to Syria as part of a Lebanese delegation. The trip, described as positive, included a meeting with Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar.

In a post on his "X" account, Bassat stated that the visit aimed to deepen economic integration between the two nations. He stressed that cooperation fields are vast and vital, and that any real economic integration yields mutual benefits, affirming that "Syria's success constitutes a success for Lebanon as well."

Bassat detailed the discussions with Minister al-Shaar, noting that talks focused on three main pillars:

• Facilitating trade relations by simplifying procedures, unifying rules, and lowering the cost of commercial exchange between the two countries.
• Enhancing investment cooperation to allow the private sectors in both Lebanon and Syria to benefit from ongoing development plans.

In this context, the formation of a Lebanese-Syrian Business Council was announced. Its first meeting is scheduled to be held in Damascus within the coming weeks.
