The Secretary of the Order of Engineers in the North, Engineer Safwan Shahhal, was injured after being shot by unknown assailants in the Abu Samra area of the city of Tripoli. Shahhal was subsequently transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

Following the incident, the Order of Engineers in the North issued a statement strongly condemning what Engineer Shahhal was subjected to, describing it as a "cowardly act." The Order considered in its statement that "the bullets directed are a stab in the side of stability," stressing that this targeting is not limited to Shahhal personally, but represents "a targeting of everything he represents of the values of institutional work."

The Order expressed "extreme dismay and anger" over the incident, which it described as "clearly reflecting the state of security chaos and indiscipline that has come to trouble the sleep of citizens in the city of Tripoli." The Order affirmed that after it reassured itself of Shahhal's safety, who also holds the position of university professor, it condemns this act, which it described as "sinful."

The Order continued in its statement, saying: "Tripoli refuses to become a field for loose weapons that threaten the security of innocents in their homes and workplaces."

The Order appealed to the security and judicial authorities "to move quickly and strike with an iron fist to uncover the circumstances of this assault, arrest the perpetrators, and bring them to justice, so that they may be a lesson for anyone who dares to tamper with the security of the city and the safety of its people."

The Order concluded its statement by reaffirming its full solidarity with Dr. Safwan and his family, pledging to its colleagues in the Order that "we remain one voice against injustice and chaos."
