The Ministry of Public Works and Transport expressed its strong displeasure over some municipalities carrying out excavation and extension works within the ministry's road network without legal and administrative procedures or prior approvals, causing traffic disruption and endangering public safety.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport expressed its "strong displeasure over what some municipalities have done in carrying out excavation and extension works within the ministry's road network, contrary to the legal and administrative procedures in force and without obtaining prior approvals from the competent authorities in the ministry, which has caused traffic disruption and daily inconvenience for citizens in a number of areas and endangered their public safety."
The ministry indicated, in a statement, that "these works were not carried out by its assignment, nor under its supervision, nor with its approval," stressing that "any intervention or works within the right-of-way of roads belonging to it and falling within its jurisdiction necessarily requires obtaining prior technical and administrative approvals from it in order to preserve public safety, properly organize traffic, and prevent random encroachments that harm both citizens and the road network."
It called on "all municipalities and relevant authorities to fully comply with the applicable laws and regulations," requesting "the security forces and traffic patrols to strictly prevent any works on roads belonging to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport that do not hold the required licenses," stressing that it will not be lenient "with any violation."
