The papal ambassador in Lebanon, Monsignor Paolo Borgia, arranged a meeting with southern priests before surprising them with a direct video call from Pope Leo XIV, offering hope and comfort in a time of anxiety.

The "National News Agency" reported that the papal ambassador in Lebanon, Monsignor Paolo Borgia, established a communication group that gathered the priests of the south, before surprising them with an appearance by Pope Leo XIV via a direct video call, in a notable paternal initiative that carried hope and consolation in a time of anxiety.
During the meeting, the Supreme Pontiff expressed his "spiritual closeness to the sons and daughters of the south," affirming "that he is fully aware of what is happening in this afflicted region, and that he carries its people, its priests, its families, its wounded, and those anxious about their fate, in his prayers and his paternal heart," concluding his speech by "granting the apostolic blessing to all."
The Archbishop of the Greek Catholic Archdiocese of Tyre, Metropolitan George Iskandar, pointed out that "this meeting was a moving moment for the participating priests, as the words of His Holiness the Pope and his blessing came as a spiritual balm at a time when the south lives under the weight of fear, waiting, and open wounds. This appearance also carried a clear message that the universal Church does not forget its suffering children, but rather accompanies them with prayer, closeness, and paternal care."
The participants thanked the papal ambassador for this initiative "which made the closeness of the Holy Father tangible and present, and opened a window of light amid the difficult days," affirming that "this meeting gives priests and believers new spiritual strength to continue their mission and remain steadfast alongside the people and carry hope where pain weighs heavily."
It is noteworthy that the call was organized at the initiative of the papal ambassador, who pays great attention to the people of the besieged southern villages.
