Barry Keoghan remains the ideal choice to portray the Joker, according to Robert Pattinson. The British actor addressed speculation about his potential involvement with the iconic villain during recent discussions regarding his upcoming projects and his performance in the new film Primetime.

Pattinson's stance on the villain

In an interview comparing his role as TV host Chris Hansen in Primetime with the character of the Joker, Pattinson explicitly denied any desire to take on the part himself. He expressed admiration for Keoghan’s abilities, describing the Irish actor as exceptional and enjoyable to work with behind the scenes. Pattinson emphasized that Keoghan is perfectly suited for the role of the Prince of Crime within the cinematic universe.

Context of the deleted scene

The comments follow renewed attention on a cut sequence from the 2022 release of The Batman. In this footage, Keoghan appears as an unnamed inmate at Arkham Asylum who interacts with Batman to assist in the investigation of Riddler, played by Paul Dano. Although Keoghan had a brief appearance at the end of the original theatrical cut, the deleted scene provided more context for his character’s involvement.

Audiences are currently preparing for the return of Pattinson in the anticipated sequel, The Batman: Part II. The film is scheduled for global theatrical release on February 18, 2028. The cast includes Colin Farrell and Jeffrey Wright, along with new additions Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson.
