A new collectible figure honors singer Celine Dion by replicating her appearance during a pivotal career moment. Mattel Creations has launched a Barbie doll based on the artist’s performance at the 1998 Academy Awards, where she sang “My Heart Will Go On,” a track composed by James Horner for the film Titanic.

The tribute to Dion’s iconic stage presence

The doll captures the specific aesthetic of that evening, featuring a pale blue, long-sleeved gown designed by Michael Kors. To complete the ensemble, the figure wears a necklace modeled after the Heart of the Ocean, the fictional blue diamond central to the movie’s plot. This release adds Dion to a roster of prominent music figures celebrated through special Barbie tributes from the toy manufacturer.

Variety reported that Dion expressed gratitude in a statement, noting it was “a true honor” to join the Barbie legacy with a doll inspired by one of the most meaningful moments of her career. The collectible is available exclusively via Mattel Creations at a price point of $60.

Dion’s recent return to live performance

This unveiling follows Dion’s return to the stage last month, ending a six-year absence from public performances. She resumed work with a sold-out residency at Paris’ Plénitude Arena in September, an event that runs through October. Her comeback comes after she publicly disclosed in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome.

The rare neurological disorder can cause muscle stiffness and painful spasms. Dion’s “Courage” world tour was initially interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and she later cancelled remaining dates while dealing with the condition. Throughout her career, the singer has sold more than 250 million albums worldwide.

Expanding the musical Barbie collection

Dion joins other stars who have received similar recognition from Mattel Creations. The company has previously released dolls and collectibles celebrating notable music figures, including Kylie Minogue, Whitney Houston, Stevie Nicks, Gloria Estefan, Tina Turner, Aaliyah, and Elton John.

In her statement regarding the new doll, Dion added a message about self-expression. “I hope this doll inspires everyone to express themselves with confidence, follow their dreams and believe in the power of their own voice,” she said.
