The singer and Orlando Bloom, who met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016 and became engaged in 2019, ended their nine-year relationship in 2025, according to People.
On The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music, Perry described last year as both the "worst year and the best year." She explained, “There are two sides to every coin, I decided to look at it as the best.” She added, “I created space for my own life. And then all of a sudden, this huge blessing in my life showed up,” alluding to her relationship with Justin Trudeau, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
Elle reported that in July 2025, Perry was seen with the former Canadian prime minister in Montreal, sparking dating rumors. Two months later, reports indicated that they were officially dating and that the relationship was becoming serious. Perry confirmed the relationship on Instagram in December 2025, and the couple appeared together publicly at the Tribeca Festival premiere of her Lifetimes Tour concert film in June 2026.
Reflecting on the impact Trudeau has had on her life, Perry recalled, “It’s wild to look at where I was one year ago exactly. I remember where I was one year ago exactly this year. Last year, in June, I was in the winter on the Lifetimes tour. I was crying. I was in Adelaide. I had just separated. I had been through a lot of you know, just stuff publicly, privately. And I was just like, ‘holy s**t, this is really intense. Is a person really supposed to feel all this and absorb all this?’”
She continued, “And then my blessing came, and it was wonderful. It was like God didn’t take me this far to desert me.” Perry is scheduled to release her new single, Watch It Burn, on June 26. Her previous album, 143, was released in September 2024, followed by the single Bandaids in November 2025, according to People.
