Taylor Swift’s sister-in-law Kylie Kelce apologized on her podcast for incorrectly addressing Kate Middleton as "Princess Kate" instead of using her official title.

A public correction and apology directed at Catherine, Princess of Wales, was delivered by Kylie Kelce during the October 1st episode of her podcast, “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce.” The host, who is Taylor Swift’s sister-in-law, acknowledged that her previous reference to the royal as “Princess Kate” was inappropriate after learning more about Middleton’s official name and title.
The issue originated from a September 24 episode where Kelce invited the Princess of Wales to join her show. During that recording, she stated: “Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chitchat about some field hockey and maybe kids. I don’t know. We got a couple things in common.” She also joked that “our husbands chitchatted on the other podcast,” referencing Prince William’s July appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights.”
Kelce returned to the topic days later to address the misnomer directly. “I love learning, so I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine, Princess Kate was offensive. I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly. I apologize for the mistake. I would like to refer to people in the most respectful way and how they feel respected,” she said.
She continued with a specific message aimed at the royal figure: “Princess Catherine or the Princess of Wales, I apologize. I will get that sorted immediately starting now.” This clarification followed feedback from a commentator who noted that “Princess Catherine is too refined and beautiful to be subjected to your cursing. You’ll need to clean up your act.”
According to PEOPLE, Kelce recognized that she would need to monitor her language carefully if Middleton accepted the invitation to appear on the podcast. The wife of Jason Kelce emphasized her intent to use respectful terminology moving forward, ensuring proper adherence to royal titles in future interactions.
