MacKenzie Scott Donated $7 Billion in 2025 but Was Omitted from Top Donors List
MacKenzie Scott gave over $7 billion to charity in 2025 yet was not included in the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s Top 50 Donors list due to her private giving approach.

In 2025, MacKenzie Scott donated more than $7 billion to over 120 organizations through her fund, Yield Giving, yet she was not listed among the year’s top donors by the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Her philanthropic activities remain largely undisclosed, which contributed to her omission from the widely recognized donor ranking.
MacKenzie Scott’s Exclusion from Donor Rankings
Although Scott’s charitable contributions in 2025 exceeded those of many prominent philanthropists, the Chronicle of Philanthropy did not include her in its Top 50 Donors list. This decision stemmed from her refusal to provide detailed information about her donations, limiting the magazine’s ability to verify and rank her giving.
Scott’s fund, Yield Giving, has consistently declined to share specifics regarding her grants, making it difficult to accurately estimate the full scope of her philanthropy. The Chronicle noted, “MacKenzie Scott is among the notable absences on the Philanthropy 50 list. While it is possible she made gifts to her donor-advised funds that would have earned her a spot on the Philanthropy 50, she and her representatives declined to provide such information to the Chronicle.”
Experts have weighed in on the situation. Hans Peter Schmitz from North Carolina State University remarked to The Conversation, “I find it odd that MacKenzie Scott isn’t on this list. She says she gave $7.1 billion in 2025. If she had met the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s criteria, that would have landed her in first place by far.”
Comparatively, Fortune reported that since 2020, Scott has donated more than $26 billion. In contrast, Jeff Bezos and his current wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, have contributed an estimated $4.7 billion in their lifetimes.
Scott has not publicly addressed her absence from the Top 50 Donors list.
