Days before the August 25 announcement, Markle posted a video to As Ever’s Instagram page showing her walking through woodland while holding a basket of apples. She paused beside a tree, looked upward, then resumed walking. Her caption stated: “A little hint of what’s coming,” accompanied by an apple emoji. That post preceded her formal introduction of the “Spiced Apple Butter” in a subsequent Instagram update.

Acting comeback and casting reversal

Markle’s product rollout occurred alongside reports indicating she was set to return to acting in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen. However, a separate report claimed her casting had been withdrawn due to “intense backlash” in the UK. Tina Brown, former editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, wrote on Substack: “The backlash in the UK was so intense, it became untenable to go forward.
