Neighbors in Cleveland object to a proposed fence around Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s lakeside home, citing sewer line risks and deer safety concerns.

A dispute has emerged regarding the fencing plans for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s lakeside residence in Cleveland, Ohio. Local neighbors have reportedly voiced opposition to the structure being erected around the property, raising questions about the couple’s development intentions.
According to TMZ, one neighbor specifically highlighted issues related to a sewer line near the site. The outlet confirmed that an Architectural Review Board convened approximately one month ago to address these grievances. A transcript from the meeting revealed discussions between the board and the team managing the couple’s project, though it remains unclear if a final decision was reached.
The proposed barrier is described as a 6-foot-tall fence constructed from black, powder-coated aluminum. To avoid interfering with existing infrastructure, the plan involves positioning the fence about 2 feet inside the property boundary. Additionally, the couple intends to plant numerous trees on the grounds, likely to enhance privacy.
Katherine Bolton, a resident of the area, reportedly stated that the nearby sewer line constitutes her primary concern. She allegedly expressed doubt that the planned trees would be situated sufficiently far from the old, decaying pipe. Her comments suggest skepticism toward the couple’s current landscaping strategy.
Bolton also directed remarks at the celebrity homeowner, noting that the “may decide to sell the house next year.” She added that Swift might choose to relocate and purchase a different property. These statements indicate that personal opinions about the residents’ long-term commitment to the neighborhood are part of the broader conflict.
Other residents raised arguments concerning local wildlife, specifically the high population of deer in the vicinity. Some neighbors worry that animals could be injured by the fence posts. This safety concern introduces an additional dimension to the ongoing disagreement over the construction plans.
The controversy unfolds against the backdrop of recent personal milestones for the couple. Swift and Kelce married at Madison Square Garden in July. Currently, Kelce is focused on his football career, contributing to the Kansas City Chiefs’ 4-0 start. Swift recently issued a statement expressing affection for Cleveland, yet the local reception appears mixed given the neighborhood tensions.
