YouGov data shows Princess Anne overtaking Prince William and Kate Middleton as Britain's most popular royal in the third quarter.

A shift in public sentiment has placed Princess Anne ahead of Prince William and Kate Middleton in recent popularity rankings. YouGov Ratings data indicates that the King’s sister now holds the top position among British royals, surpassing the future king and his wife by a notable margin.
The monarchy relies on sustained public support to protect its legacy, even though members do not participate in elections. YouGov collects opinion data throughout the year, releasing quarterly results that identify which figures enjoy the highest or lowest favorability. A Newsweek report highlighted Anne’s rise, noting she beat William and Kate significantly in the latest ratings.
In the first three months of the year, 75% of respondents viewed Kate Middleton favorably, while only 10% held an unfavorable opinion, resulting in a net rating of +65. Her standing later declined, with favorable views dropping to 64% and unfavorable views falling slightly to 8%. Prince William began the year with a 74% favorable rating and 9% unfavorable. By the third quarter, however, positive views for him had slipped to 62%.
Princess Anne started with a 62% favorable rating but saw her numbers improve in the third quarter. The latest figures show 67% of respondents viewing her positively, with just 7% holding negative opinions. This yields a net approval rating of +60, placing her above both Kate and William in the current hierarchy. Future surveys will determine if this lead over the Waleses is sustainable.
