Taylor Swift Misses 2026 AMAs to Prepare Wedding in New York
Taylor Swift, despite eight nominations, did not attend the 2026 American Music Awards, reportedly due to wedding preparations in New York City with Travis Kelce.

Leading the nominations with eight nods at the 2026 American Music Awards, Taylor Swift was absent from the event held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25. The artist’s nominations included Artist of the Year, Best Female Pop Artist, Album of the Year, and Best Pop Album for The Life of a Showgirl, as well as Song of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Pop Song for “The Fate of Ophelia,” and Song of the Summer for “Elizabeth Taylor.”
Wedding Preparations in New York City
Swift reportedly missed the ceremony because she was in New York City with her fiancé, Travis Kelce, focusing on preparations for their forthcoming wedding. According to Elle, the couple also attended a wedding and were spotted on multiple dinner outings while in the city. Although the pair have not disclosed the exact date or details of their ceremony, Swift mentioned in September 2025 during an interview on Heart Breakfast that she envisioned a destination wedding.
She stated, “You would think that I would’ve been the type of person who would’ve obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I actually never thought about what I would ever do… until I met the person.”
Despite reports suggesting the wedding might take place in New York City on July 3, a source told Page Six, “That’s not when that wedding is happening. Trust me.” It is reported that the couple plans to invite numerous prominent figures from the entertainment and music industries, including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, and Zoe Kravitz, among others.
