The notion of a lingering conflict between Tyra Banks and stylist Law Roach was dismissed by the supermodel herself, who characterized the online speculation as exaggerated. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she noted that the perceived tension held far more weight for viewers than it did for the individuals involved.

Banks served as a recurring guest judge during the 22nd season of the Freeform series Project Runway, which broadcast over the summer. The friction surfaced in episode five, where the two judges clashed over their evaluation process. "That’s not the challenge," Banks stated to Roach. He responded, "But you’re overstepping." She countered immediately: "No, you’re overstepping… and you’re talking over everybody."

Resolution and Departure from Show

The disagreement continued into the following episode when judging resumed. Roach conceded, "As much as I hate to, I agree with Tyra." Following this segment, Banks did not return for subsequent episodes of the season.

Addressing her exit, Banks highlighted discrepancies between fan expectations and contractual obligations. "They’re like, ‘Oh, she did five episodes and then she left? She’s supposed to do 10!’" she recounted. "Y’all don’t know what my contract stated. But, you know, what? Continue to enjoy!"

Reaction to Online Narrative

When asked about her current standing with Roach, Banks expressed confusion regarding the narrative being constructed around them. "I don’t know if I should just let the lore live? Just enjoy the Banks-Law, Law-Banks [narrative]," she said. "I’m so confused. I’m like, what? We’re beefing? Okay, we’re beefing. It’s just weird for me."

She further observed how public discourse can solidify into accepted fact regardless of reality. "People start making things [into something] and it becomes the truth, and sometimes you say, ‘Whatever.’"

This interview follows earlier legal developments involving Banks. Earlier this year, she filed a defamation lawsuit against Netflix concerning the America’s Next Top Model docu-series, a project in which she participated.
