Following the conclusion of Euphoria’s third season, Zendaya delivered a heartfelt message reflecting on her time with the series. The actress, who earned an Emmy for her portrayal of Rue Bennett in the first two seasons, is concluding her seven-year involvement with the HBO show.

In the season three finale, Zendaya’s character Rue died after ingesting fentanyl-laced pain pills, a development that had been anticipated by viewers. After the episode aired, a behind-the-scenes video was presented, continuing a tradition from previous seasons, beginning with Zendaya’s remarks on her final day of shooting.

Addressing the crew with visible emotion, Zendaya expressed gratitude: “I just want to say thank you. I’m incredibly grateful for every single one of you, and many of you have been here from the beginning, and watched me grow up.” She added, “It’s been such a pleasure and an honor. Thank you so much.”

The video also featured comments from Sam Levinson, the creator, writer, and director of Euphoria. Levinson praised Zendaya’s portrayal, describing it as “wonderful and layered over the course of these seasons.” He remarked, “You know, we fell in love with this character. This girl who’s flawed and f-cked up, but has a good heart. And trying to do right, at least sometimes.”

Cinematographer Marcell Rév recalled Zendaya’s last day on set, noting, “Z’s last shooting day, we shot some driving stuff with her. It was a very emotional day.” Levinson added, “It’s a blessing to work with talented people, people that you love. I feel so lucky.”

Actress Hunter Schafer reflected on her experience working with Zendaya, saying, “I feel so lucky my first major scene partner ended up being a soulmate.” Schafer continued, “Z is somebody that I’m gonna be talking to when I’m old. I love her to the moon and back.”

Later in the clip, Levinson described the finale as “the honest ending,” stating, “The honest ending is people like Rue don’t make it.”
