An Aeromexico Boeing 787-8 carrying more than 80 influencers and celebrities returned to Mexico City after a cockpit windshield problem mid-flight.
More than 80 passengers, including influencers, reality stars, and celebrities, were aboard an Aeromexico flight that had to make an emergency landing following a cockpit windshield malfunction. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating flight AM090 from Mexico City to Seoul with a scheduled stop in Monterrey, encountered the issue while flying over the Chihuahua region.
The pilot decided to return to Mexico City International Airport for a safe emergency landing. Passengers described a tense atmosphere inside the cabin as they realized the aircraft was compromised and heading back to the capital. Wendy Guevara, a reality TV figure with over eight million Instagram followers, said they had been flying for over two hours when the windshield shattered, forcing the plane to return. She mentioned that the airline intended to repair the windshield on the same plane.
Expressing frustration, Wendy Guevara noted, “They say the windshield came loose. I feel like this situation is very strange. What a fright, and on top of that everyone is tired after seven hours of flight only to return to where we started.” Daniela Alexis, known as La Bebeshita and having over three million Instagram followers, recalled the announcement, stating, “We were supposed to be in Korea, but God had other plans.” She added, “What a fright… I started praying.”
Veteran singer-actress Lolita Cortés, with more than 380,000 Instagram followers, shared from the airport early in the morning, “It’s about four in the morning and we’re at Mexico City airport because the pilot said one of the windows cracked, or something like that, and we had to return.” Model Celia Lora criticized the airline’s safety standards on social media after arrival, highlighting that Mexico is preparing to host the FIFA World Cup in the coming weeks.
Other notable passengers included influencers and personalities such as Kunno, Vanessa ‘Labios 4K’, Gaby Ramírez, Tania Vázquez, Nacho Casano, Queen Buenrostro, María Luisa Valdés, and television host Pedrito Sola. Many documented the stressful experience and the wait at the airport on their social media accounts. The group was reportedly traveling together on a promotional trip organized by a travel agency celebrating an anniversary, according to Need To Know.
Aviation tracking data confirmed the aircraft landed safely back at Mexico City International Airport on Sunday, where maintenance crews awaited its arrival. All passengers disembarked without injuries and remained on the ground while repairs were carried out. Aeromexico has not yet issued a statement regarding the windshield damage.
