Prime Video has confirmed that the eight-episode limited series Blade Runner 2099 will debut in full on November 25. The announcement arrives alongside the release of the official trailer, marking the first live-action television adaptation in the franchise’s history.

It follows the cyberpunk aesthetic established by earlier installments, with visual effects described as “pretty stunning” in the newly unveiled trailer. According to the trailer, replicants have become the dominant societal force, while humans now constitute a minority population. The series references a war that occurred sometime after 2049 but prior to the show’s timeline — a conflict not depicted in previous films or the animated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

Hunter Schafer stars as Cora, a blade runner. Michelle Yeoh portrays a replicant with whom Cora must reluctantly collaborate to locate “a runaway hiding a truth that could collapse their fragile city.” The casting marks Schafer’s return to a leading role following her appearance in Euphoria season 3.
