Prime Video has canceled several series in 2026, including teen dramas, superhero spinoffs, and animated comedies, as it updates its content lineup.
Throughout the first half of 2026, Prime Video discontinued several television series spanning genres such as teen drama, superhero spinoffs, and animated comedy.
The streaming platform revealed these cancellations amid preparations for its upcoming content slate, also announcing new projects like The Oprah Podcast during its May 2026 upfront event.
On April 3, 2026, Deadline confirmed that The Runarounds would not be renewed for a second season. The series, created by Jonas Pate—co-creator of Outer Banks—and executive produced by all three co-creators of that show, followed a group of high school graduates from Wilmington, North Carolina, forming a rock band.
The show experienced low viewership, with its final episodes accumulating fewer than 2 million hours watched. Despite the series ending, the real-life band announced on Instagram that they would continue performing together. In May 2026, Jeremy Yun declared he was leaving the band to pursue a career outside of music.
The Boys spinoff Gen V was canceled after two seasons, as confirmed by a representative from Amazon MGM Studios in April 2026. The superhero drama centered on students at Godolkin University training to become the next generation of heroes.
Executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg commented on the cancellation, stating, “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5,” in an interview with People.
Prime Video also chose not to renew the animated series Kevin after its first season. The show starred Aubrey Plaza as the voice of a cat sent to a New York City animal shelter following his owners’ separation, with Jason Schwartzman and Whoopi Goldberg also providing voices.
Plaza shared her disappointment on Instagram, writing, “Very disappointing since we were just getting going.”
She added, “I hope the machines won’t ruin everything. Maybe Kevin will find a new owner someday.”
