DJ Hannah Laing says German police strip-searched her at Munich festival
Hannah Laing said she felt “degraded” after an invasive police search at a Munich festival following a toilet visit with her cousin.

“Don’t go to the toilet with your mate at German festivals.” That was Hannah Laing’s warning after she said she was searched “absolutely everywhere” by police at the Isle of Summer festival in Munich.
The 31-year-old said the incident happened after her set abroad on 9 May. She went to a portaloo with her cousin, and as soon as they opened the door they were met by “undercover police officers” who detained them.
They were marched through the festival and taken to a private tent, according to Need To Know. Hannah said female officers then carried out a strip-style search, checking “absolutely everywhere” including inside their underwear.

At first, she and her cousin thought the search would involve only their pockets and bags. Instead, Hannah said her cousin was left in tears and that both of them felt “degraded and embarrassed.”
Hannah said the officers told them they had to be searched because they suspected they had been taking drugs. She also said the signs on the portaloos were written in German, which they do not speak.

She said the sign stated that anyone who enters a booth or cabin with two people, or more, will be banned and removed from the event. Hannah added that nowhere did it state attendees could be subjected to an invasive strip-style search.
Sharing her experience online, the Dundee star said: “At no point were we clearly told that this would be such an intimate search.” She also said: “If we had been given the option we would have left the festival and not agreed to a strip search.”
Hannah said: “One officer held my hands and the other did an invasive search all over including in my underwear, front and back, feeling absolutely everywhere.” She added: “I felt extremely degraded and embarrassed. My cousin was crying because she felt the same.”

She has now warned Brits attending festivals in Germany to avoid entering toilets together to avoid the same fate.
