A 20-year-old man in Singapore admitted to secretly filming a woman and her mother, with sentencing set for December.

A 20-year-old suspect fled the scene after a 19-year-old woman screamed upon discovering a phone extended through her bathroom window. Police investigations revealed that the individual had previously recorded both the young woman and her 55-year-old mother on multiple occasions.
The primary incident occurred on April 8, 2026, within a public housing estate in Singapore. At approximately 21:20, the suspect entered a sports area near the victim’s residence. He climbed onto a ledge attempting to peer inside but returned to the sports area when curtains blocked his view.
About 30 minutes later, hearing shower sounds from the apartment, the suspect approached the exterior of the bathroom. He inserted his phone through the window to secretly record the 19-year-old woman while she was bathing. The victim noticed the device, reacted with fear, and shouted, prompting the suspect to flee immediately.
Following the incident, the victim’s 55-year-old mother contacted the police to file a report. Authorities identified the suspect and examined his mobile device, uncovering evidence of repeated voyeuristic acts. Investigators found that on March 22, the suspect had secretly filmed the mother in the bathroom.
Additionally, between March 30 and April 8, ten separate videos were discovered on the phone. These recordings captured the daughter during showers, changing clothes, and using the toilet. The findings confirmed that both women were subjected to unauthorized surveillance on different dates.
During court proceedings, it was noted that the events significantly affected the young woman’s psychological state. She reported feeling vulnerable and unsafe within her own home following the intrusion. The family subsequently adopted new habits, such as ensuring bathroom windows are closed before showering.
On October 27, the defendant appeared in court and pleaded guilty to two counts of voyeurism. A third charge will be considered during the sentencing phase. To protect the identities of the 19-year-old victim and her 55-year-old mother, the court issued a publication ban.
The case has been adjourned until December 17, when the sentence is scheduled to be pronounced.
