Iraqi Content Creator Arrested in Egypt Over Videos on Her Phone
Egyptian security forces arrested an Iraqi content creator known as "Mishmisha" for sharing videos deemed indecent and against societal values.

Egyptian security authorities detained an Iraqi content creator known on social media as "Mishmisha" following accusations of distributing videos described as indecent and violating societal norms.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a release that the Public Security Sector monitored the activities of a content creator holding citizenship of an Arab country who was publishing videos on her social media accounts while present in Egypt. These videos contained acts the security agencies considered offensive to public decency and contrary to community values.
After obtaining the necessary legal warrants, the authorities located the suspect within the jurisdiction of the First October Police Department in Giza Governorate, where they arrested her and confiscated two mobile phones in her possession.
Examination of the two phones uncovered evidence confirming her activities. During initial investigations, she admitted deliberately posting these videos on her social media accounts to increase viewership and generate financial profit.
The Ministry of Interior affirmed that legal procedures are being taken against the suspect in preparation for presenting her before the competent investigative bodies.
This incident is part of an ongoing campaign by Egyptian authorities targeting several content creators accused of publishing materials that offend public decency or violate societal values and morals on social media platforms.
In recent years, security agencies have arrested multiple content creators and influencers, referring them to public prosecution on charges including assaulting Egyptian family values, inciting immorality, distributing content contrary to public morals, or misusing social media platforms for financial gain.
Egyptian authorities emphasize that these measures aim to protect society and enforce the law, although some of these cases have sparked widespread debate regarding the boundaries of freedom of expression, digital content, and the distinction between personal creativity and content criminalized by law.
