Circumstances of the fatal strike

Ferreira had recently bathed her five-year-old son, Luiz Henrique, and sent him indoors before remaining outside to care for her brother’s daughter. Her sister, Lana Letícia, reported that Ana was combing the niece’s hair when the bolt struck. The garden featured several trees and a small area containing a wash tub where the activity took place.

Her brother, César Augusto, described the event as happening in an instant. He noted that the weather conditions at the time were cloudy with a very calm drizzle, offering no immediate warning of the severe electrical storm that would claim his sister’s life.

Community mourning and personal tributes

Known locally as Aninha, Ferreira was enrolled in her first term studying physiotherapy at Norte do Paraná University. Marcella Batista, her godmother, characterized her as joyful, full of dreams, and deeply devoted to her relatives. Batista emphasized that Ana was a "model mother" who prioritized family, frequently spending weekends with her mother, looking after her sisters, styling their hair, and preparing meals.

César Augusto referred to his sister as the family’s "rock," stating that she was one of the most beautiful people he had ever known. The Almas Rural Union confirmed that Ferreira had been crowned Queen of the Rodeo at the town’s ExpoAlmas Fair. In a statement, the union said she represented the event with joy and love for local tradition, noting that her departure leaves immense sadness among those who knew her.

Investigation and burial proceedings

Ferreira is survived by her son, her parents, and six half-siblings on her mother’s side. A wake was held on Sunday at the family home, followed by a burial service on Monday morning at the town cemetery. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the death, with the 100th police station in Almas currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the lightning strike.
