Teacher Arrested in Izmir on Charges of Posting Obscene Content and Money Laundering via Instagram
A teacher known as "Fadime the Teacher" was arrested in Izmir following a probe by Turkey's Ankara prosecutor's office over allegations of sharing obscene content and money laundering through Instagram.
In Izmir, Fadime Atalay, known on social media platforms as "the teacher Fadime," was detained after investigations conducted by Turkey's Ankara prosecutor's office. The legal proceedings are based on charges related to disseminating content falling under the crime of obscenity according to Article 226 of the Turkish Criminal Code.
Investigation into Content Revenue
The prosecution had initiated the investigation after monitoring posts, videos, and images published on Atalay's Instagram account. Authorities considered these materials a violation of the criminal law, and the income generated from them falls within the scope of money laundering under Article 282 of the same law.

According to preliminary data, Atalay has over 701,000 followers on Instagram, in addition to approximately 12,100 paid subscribers through the subscription system, at a monthly fee of 79.99 Turkish Lira.

Source of Income and Financial Audit

Authorities estimate that Atalay’s net monthly income from these activities approached one million Turkish Lira. Based on this, relevant authorities have begun thoroughly examining all her bank accounts to verify the sources of her funds.

The investigation is ongoing intensively, with no additional details released about its progress or the current legal status of the suspect.
