Courtney Clapham received a 3-year, 9-month prison sentence after admitting to three counts of perverting the course of justice.

A 23-year-old woman in England has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison after she stabbed her own leg and falsely accused an acquaintance of sexual assault and child rape. Courtney Clapham pleaded guilty to three separate counts of perverting the course of justice following an investigation that revealed the allegations were fabricated.
Clapham repeatedly contacted Humberside Police under various fake names, alleging that the man had sexually assaulted her and raped a child. To substantiate a claim of grievous bodily harm, she inflicted a knife wound on her own leg and asserted that the male victim was responsible for the injury. This led to his arrest on charges of causing serious physical harm.
Police inquiries determined that the accused man could not have committed the offenses attributed to him. As scrutiny shifted toward Clapham, investigators confirmed she had stabbed herself to frame the individual. The probe also found that she had shared these fictitious narratives with people in her social circle, resulting in witness statements that did not reflect reality.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the court issued a ten-year restraining order against Clapham to protect the male victim. The man stated that he is struggling to trust others and is attempting to reconstruct his life after the false accusations spread via social media. He noted that reliving the ordeal during the trial was difficult but felt relieved when Clapham admitted guilt, hoping the conclusion of the case allows him to move forward.
