"I'm Broke".. LeBron James Confuses Millions with Sudden "Bankruptcy" Statement

American basketball star LeBron James sparked widespread interaction on social media platforms, after statements in which he said he is "broke" and only has "a few thousand dollars in the bank," despite estimates indicating a massive fortune exceeding one billion dollars.

The Los Angeles Lakers player's statements came during a media interview, where he said in response to a question about his wealth: "That's not true, Google's numbers are wrong," referring to estimates placing his fortune at around 1.2 billion dollars.

James added sarcastically, in response to an inquiry about the size of his wealth: "I have much less than what is said, only a few thousand in the bank," indicating that his money is "in the possession of his children," as he put it.

In the context of his speech, the player said: "Everything I wear is free; the shirt, the pants, and even the wedding ring, everything is free," which increased the controversy over his statements.

James touched on his luxury watch of the "Richard Mille" model, saying it is also "free," explaining that it is a special edition bearing his name, referring to a commercial collaboration with the Swiss brand.

This watch, of the "LeBron James Richard Mille RM 01-65" model, is a limited edition of no more than 150 pieces, with an official price of about 405 thousand dollars, while its price in the resale market may exceed one million dollars.
