SpaceX Seeks Global Spaceport Sites for Starship Launches
Elon Musk announced SpaceX is scouting locations in the US and abroad for spaceports to support thousands of annual Starship launches.

SpaceX is actively searching for locations both inside the United States and internationally to build "spaceports," CEO Elon Musk revealed in a post on X. The move prepares for a future where the giant Starship rocket could execute thousands of launches each year.
Unlike traditional single-use rockets, Starship is engineered for rapid reusability with minimal maintenance. SpaceX emphasizes this capability as critical for slashing launch costs and enabling thousands of annual flights, according to Yahoo Finance.
Reusable Rocket and Mars Ambitions
The fully reusable rocket system, designed to haul over 100 metric tons of payload, sits at the center of Musk's long-term plans for colonizing Mars, deploying satellites, and developing rapid global transportation.
“It’s no secret that we intend to launch Starship at a high cadence, targeting thousands of flights per year,” SpaceX stated in an online announcement. The company added that achieving this rate will require launches from “many different locations.”
Musk has previously described future spaceports operating like airports, conducting multiple daily launches with short turnaround times for rocket refurbishment.
IPO Plans and Test Flights
SpaceX is targeting a listing in June, expected to be the world's largest initial public offering. The rocket manufacturer aims to raise up to $75 billion at a valuation of roughly $1.75 trillion, sources told Reuters earlier.
The company currently conducts Starship test flights from its Starbase facility in Texas and is developing additional infrastructure in Florida.
The expansion coincides with rapid global growth in commercial launch activity, straining the capacity of major launch sites.
SpaceX noted that the twelfth test flight of Starship, scheduled as early as May 19, will debut a new generation of the rocket, along with the Super Heavy booster and Raptor engines. The tests aim to validate upgrades for achieving full and rapid rocket reusability.
