Adobe has launched a new ChatGPT plugin granting global access to over 70 of its creative and productivity tools—including Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator, and InDesign—starting 6 August.

Adobe has expanded its presence in generative AI by releasing a new ChatGPT plugin that enables users to access more than 70 of the company’s creative and productivity tools directly within OpenAI’s chatbot interface.
This development follows Adobe’s late-2023 integration with OpenAI’s Apps SDK, which initially brought Photoshop, Acrobat, and Adobe Express into ChatGPT. The latest update significantly broadens that integration to cover a large portion of Adobe’s application suite.
Once installed via ChatGPT’s Settings menu under the “Plugins” section, users can invoke Adobe tools during any conversation by typing “@Adobe” in the message input field, followed by a natural-language description of the task they wish to perform.
The plugin functions optimally within OpenAI’s Codex coding assistant and OpenAI’s newly launched Work suite. Users may operate the plugin without signing in to an Adobe Creative Cloud account; however, logging in preserves work across sessions, grants access to cloud-stored files, and unlocks Adobe’s proprietary generative AI models via Adobe Firefly.
With the plugin activated, users gain direct access to tools linked to widely used Adobe applications—including Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator, and InDesign—as well as dozens of additional utilities.
This eliminates the need to switch between standalone applications for routine tasks: users can request image edits, marketing video creation, or PDF generation entirely through conversational prompts inside ChatGPT.
Adobe explicitly states the plugin is not intended to replace its core professional applications. Forrest Key, Vice President of Adobe Firefly and Agent AI, emphasized that the goal is to make Adobe’s professional-grade creative and productivity tools available wherever users work—not to supplant the native apps relied upon daily by professionals.
He clarified that original Adobe applications deliver deeper control and precision, particularly for projects requiring fine manual adjustments and heightened creative oversight.
The Adobe plugin became available worldwide on 6 August. Its launch reflects a growing industry trend: embedding professional design and productivity tools directly into AI chat interfaces.
For everyday users, the plugin enables execution of common design, photo editing, video editing, and document tasks using simple text commands. Meanwhile, full Adobe applications remain the preferred choice for projects demanding expert-level precision and granular control.
