Caviar unveiled a limited-edition gold-plated Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses called Odyssey, priced at $6,840, with only 24 units to be produced.

Russian luxury customization firm Caviar has launched a limited-run version of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses under the name “Odyssey,” repositioning the wearable device as an exclusive collector’s item aimed at affluent buyers and technology enthusiasts.
The Odyssey edition features extensive use of 24-karat gold across multiple structural components—including the frame, temples, hinges, and shutter button—while retaining all original technical specifications of the standard Ray-Ban Meta model. It includes identical cameras, microphones, speakers, and AI functionalities. No new software capabilities or hardware upgrades accompany the redesign.
A matching crocodile-leather case further elevates the product’s luxury presentation. Caviar also offers a silver variant priced at $6,130—still substantially higher than the base model—confirming that the premium reflects material exclusivity and craftsmanship rather than technological advancement.
Production is capped at exactly 24 units—a deliberate reference to the 24 books comprising Homer’s epic poem *The Odyssey*. This strict limitation underscores the product’s status as a rare, high-end collectible rather than a mass-market consumer electronic.
The launch coincides with growing mainstream interest in AI-powered wearables, as smart glasses shift from niche gadgets toward broader consumer adoption. Yet a clear dissonance persists between fast-evolving technology cycles and ultra-premium pricing: newer generations of smart glasses may emerge within months, rendering a $6,840 gold-finished unit a statement of affluence and distinction—not technical superiority.
Odyssey does not claim to deliver the most advanced smart glasses experience. Instead, it targets buyers seeking a scarce, opulent iteration of a device increasingly embedded in daily life.
