Sony Schedules June 2 State of Play Featuring Wolverine Gameplay
Sony will host a State of Play event on June 2, 2026, showcasing over an hour of PS5 game reveals, headlined by Marvel's Wolverine, which launches exclusively on PS5 this September without a PC version.

On June 2, 2026, Sony will present a State of Play broadcast starting at 11 PM CEST (6 PM ET / 3 PM PT), delivering more than 60 minutes of new game announcements and updates from PlayStation’s first-party and third-party developers.
The event will begin with an extended gameplay segment for Marvel's Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games. Scheduled for release on September 15, 2026, Wolverine stands out as a major PS5 exclusive title this year, with no PC release planned.
PlayStation will stream the presentation on its official YouTube and Twitch channels. While the full lineup of games remains undisclosed, Sony has indicated that studios from around the world will contribute reveals during the hour-long show.
Wolverine’s PS5 Exclusivity and Sony’s Strategic Shift
Wolverine’s launch exclusively on PS5 marks a notable change in Sony’s approach to PC ports of narrative-driven single-player games. According to a Bloomberg report, PlayStation’s head Hermen Hulst announced internally on May 18 that the company will halt PC ports for this category of games, reversing the previous strategy that saw titles like God of War and Horizon debut on PC years after their console releases.
This exclusivity positions Wolverine as a key selling point for the PS5, especially as it competes with other major releases such as GTA 6, which is also targeting a fall 2026 launch. Sony appears to be emphasizing the game as a reason to purchase a PS5 rather than waiting for a PC version or bypassing the console altogether.
Implications for PS5 and PC Gamers
For PS5 owners, Wolverine represents a flagship Marvel experience developed with Insomniac’s expertise, delivered without compromises that come with multi-platform releases. Conversely, PC gamers will not have access to the game at launch, reflecting Sony’s current stance on exclusive hardware content.
The upcoming State of Play broadcast will be an important moment to observe how Sony continues to balance console exclusivity against the growing PC gaming market. The stream will be accessible on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels starting June 2 at 11 PM CEST.
