Vivo V80 to Launch October 6 with 7,200 mAh Battery, ZEISS Triple Camera

A 7,200 mAh battery—the largest Vivo has ever installed in a V-series smartphone—will headline the V80, scheduled for launch in India on October 6. The device positions itself as a slim mid-range phone built for extended content creation sessions, not as a bulky endurance-focused model.

Battery Performance and Charging

Vivo states the V80 supports up to 14 hours of continuous navigation and nearly 40 hours of video playback. It uses 90W FlashCharge technology to replenish the 7,200 mAh cell. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra ships with a 5,000 mAh battery. The V80’s capacity represents a 44% increase over the 5,000 mAh cells common in most current Android flagships.

The rear camera array consists of three lenses: a 50MP Sony LYT-700C main sensor with optical image stabilization; a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto; and an 8MP ultra-wide unit. All three are developed under Vivo’s co-engineering partnership with ZEISS. ZEISS portrait modes emulate 85mm and 100mm focal lengths to reduce facial distortion in selfies taken with wide-angle lenses. The front-facing camera is 50MP with autofocus and a 92° field of view. Video recording caps at 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, with cinematic colour modes included.

Display, Chipset, and Software Support

The V80 features a 6.59-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. According to Digit.in, peak brightness reaches 5,000–6,000 nits in HDR zones, while minimum brightness drops to 1 nit for low-light reading. It runs OriginOS 7 atop a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. Vivo commits to six years of security updates—a timeline matching those pledged by Google for the Pixel 9 and Samsung for its current flagship line.

Design and Durability Ratings

The phone carries both IP68 and IP69 certifications for dust and water resistance. Three colour variants are confirmed: Sunrise Anthem, Horizon Blue, and Stellar Black.

Regional Availability and Pricing

The V80 will debut in India on October 6 at an anticipated price of ₹47,999—approximately $575, per SmartPrix. No release in the United States or United Kingdom has been announced. Historically, Vivo’s V-series has remained concentrated in Asian markets, making Western availability within the next few months unlikely. Should the ZEISS camera collaboration and Vivo’s optics strategy eventually extend the V80 to Western regions, a higher local price point is expected.
