Vivo X500 Pro Max features 8,000mAh battery, 200MP Zeiss APO

Vivo has launched the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max—first smartphones powered by MediaTek’s 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chip—with Chinese pre-orders opening September 21 and sales beginning September 24 (Pro Max) and September 29 (Pro).

Vivo has unveiled the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, marking the global debut of the first smartphones built around MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro—a mobile processor fabricated on a 2nm process node. Chinese pre-orders commenced on September 21, with the Pro Max going on sale September 24 and the Pro following on September 29. No launch dates have been confirmed for the United States or the United Kingdom.

Chip architecture and performance metrics

The Dimensity 9600 Pro integrates more than 33 billion transistors and employs a 2+3+3 CPU configuration. It is the inaugural mobile chip to support both LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. According to MediaTek, multi-core power consumption falls by 61% relative to the prior generation. Single-core performance rises by 17%, multi-core by 15%. Its integrated NPU enables local execution of AI models containing up to 30 billion parameters without requiring cloud connectivity.

The X500 Pro Max features a 200MP Zeiss APO super-periscope camera built on Samsung’s HP0 1/1.4-inch sensor, offering 4x hardware zoom and a 400mm extender mode tailored for wildlife or sports photography. Its primary camera uses a 50MP BlueTouch 900 sensor, which Vivo states achieves a 17EV dynamic range—though this figure originates solely from the sensor manufacturer and has not undergone independent verification. Complementing these are a 64MP Sony LYTIA 610 periscope lens (85mm equivalent) and a 50MP ultrawide unit, both present across both models.

The standard X500 Pro retains identical main and ultrawide sensors but replaces the 200MP periscope with the 64MP Sony unit as its telephoto solution. Both devices support 4K video capture and incorporate Zeiss colour tuning throughout their imaging pipelines.

Display, battery, and charging capabilities

The X500 Pro Max houses an 8,000mAh battery paired with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging. The X500 Pro carries a 6,510mAh cell and matches the Pro Max’s charging speeds. The Pro Max’s display measures 6.85 inches, delivers 2K resolution, and supports LTPO technology with a peak refresh rate of 144Hz. The Pro uses a 6.36-inch variant of the same Q11 BOE LTPO panel. Vivo brands the Pro Max’s screen as the world’s first Zeiss Master Color Screen on this panel; Dolby Vision and HDR10+ playback are supported on both models.

Pricing and regional availability

In China, the X500 Pro begins at approximately $1,044 for the 12GB/256GB configuration and reaches about $1,268 for the 1TB version. The X500 Pro Max shares the same entry price, climbing to roughly $1,343 for the 12GB/1TB model—or $1,940 for a Creator’s Package that includes satellite connectivity. These figures reflect approximate CNY-to-USD conversions. At current US pricing, the Pro Max competes on paper with the iPhone 16 Pro Max ($1,199) and Galaxy S25 Ultra ($1,299). A European launch event is scheduled for October 27, where regional pricing and availability details are expected to be disclosed. Historically, Vivo’s X-series has maintained limited retail distribution outside China, and no partnerships with US or UK retailers have been announced.
