Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is set to arrive on September 17, 2026, marking a return to classic real-time strategy for the franchise. The game will be available exclusively on PC through Steam, as confirmed by developer King Art Games and publisher Deep Silver.

Four Factions Return to Kronus

The new installment revisits the war-torn planet Kronus, featuring four playable factions: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and the Adeptus Mechanicus, the latter appearing as a playable faction for the first time in the series. The campaign includes over 70 missions spread across these factions, incorporating story decisions that influence the narrative and optional side missions offering rewards. Cooperative play is supported throughout the campaign.

Multiplayer and Developer Background

In addition to the single-player campaign, Dawn of War IV will offer a traditional online multiplayer mode designed for large-scale competitive battles. King Art Games, based in Bremen, Germany, is known for the World War I-themed RTS Iron Harvest, which received positive reviews. This project represents a larger commitment, aiming to restore trust with the PC strategy community after the mixed reception of Dawn of War III in 2017.

Post-Launch Content and Availability

Plans for content updates extend through spring 2027, including a Crusade Mode with new maps, a mission editor, a story expansion featuring a new campaign, and the addition of a fifth playable faction. No details have been shared regarding content beyond that timeframe. At launch, the game will be available only on Steam, with no confirmed versions for PlayStation 5 or Xbox. Pricing and pre-order options have yet to be announced.
