watchOS 27 Introduces New Default Home Screen for Apple Watch
Apple's watchOS 27 adds a new default home screen option called Dynamic App Grid, enhancing app suggestions and Siri integration.

Currently, Apple Watch users have two options for their home screen layout. However, with the release of watchOS 27, a new default option called the Dynamic App Grid has been introduced, according to 9to5Mac.
When the Apple Watch was first launched, its home screen closely resembled the iPhone’s design, featuring a honeycomb-style app icon layout known today as the Grid View. Later, watchOS 4 added a second option called List View. Now, watchOS 27 brings a third home screen layout, which is the new default: the Dynamic App Grid.
As described on the official watchOS 27 website, the Dynamic App Grid automatically highlights app suggestions from Siri, including the most frequently and commonly used apps, while keeping the Siri app prominently positioned at the center front.
Activating the new default home screen is straightforward in watchOS 27. Pressing the digital crown now takes users directly to the Dynamic App Grid.
Within this view, the Siri AI app appears in the center front, surrounded by five suggested apps. At the bottom, there is a shortcut to open the full app library.
This shortcut opens either the Grid View or List View, depending on the user’s preferred layout.
Apple recognizes that watchOS users typically open only a few apps manually, as most app interactions occur through complications or widgets, reducing the overall importance of the home screen. The success of the Dynamic App Grid will depend entirely on how well the app suggestions match user needs.
