Real Madrid's Djen Hoesen Responds to Spain Coach After World Cup Omission

Djen Hoesen, the defender for Real Madrid, responded to Spain's head coach Luis de la Fuente following his omission from the national team's roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

On Monday, Luis de la Fuente revealed the final squad set to compete in the upcoming World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Notably absent from the official list were any players from Real Madrid, with Hoesen among the most prominent exclusions.

Hoesen's position in the squad will be filled by Pau Cubarsi from Barcelona, Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao, Marc Pujol from Atlético Madrid, and Eric Garcia from Barcelona.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the decision, Hoesen took to his official Instagram account to share a photo originally posted by his father. The image displayed a ranking from the football data analysis website Sofascore, which rated Hoesen as one of the top performers of the season in La Liga with an average score of 7.28, slightly ahead of Pau Cubarsi (7.19) and Eric Garcia (7.11).

Despite this, Hoesen will be excluded from the World Cup squad due to what has been described as his modest individual performance this season, which contributed to Real Madrid's overall decline in team performance.
