On Wednesday, Adidas, the German sportswear company, displayed an unusual notice on its website stating, "Sorry, the letter V is temporarily out of stock." This occurred amid a surge in demand for jerseys of certain players from the German national football team participating in the 2026 World Cup.

A company spokesperson explained that the high volume of orders for jerseys bearing the names of Deniz Undav, Kai Havertz, and Alexander Pavlovic led to a temporary depletion of the letter V in their printing supplies. The spokesperson added that this shortage was resolved quickly.

The representative confirmed that jerseys of the German national team, known as "Die Mannschaft," would soon be available again for online purchase.

Observations indicated that by midday, the ordering process for jerseys printed with the names Undav, Havertz, and Pavlovic had resumed normally.

Adidas serves as the official supplier for jerseys of 14 out of the 48 teams participating in the World Cup, including Germany. This tournament marks Adidas's final sponsorship before the contract transfers to its competitor Nike.

The World Cup represents a significant event for the German company, headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria. Adidas anticipates that the event will generate revenues approaching one billion euros, spanning from the official match ball to the national teams' kits.
