FIFA Details Prohibited Items for 2026 World Cup Stadiums

FIFA has issued important warnings to fans preparing to attend the 2026 World Cup matches across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The organization confirmed the enforcement of stringent security protocols inside the stadiums, including an extensive list of prohibited items and materials.

As the tournament approaches, FIFA emphasized the importance of fans reviewing the regulatory guidelines before heading to the venues to avoid confiscation of belongings or facing penalties that in some cases may include detention and legal prosecution.

Prohibited Items in 2026 World Cup Stadiums

The banned list covers many commonly known items such as weapons, explosives, and sharp objects. It also includes several items that some fans might not realize are forbidden, including beach umbrellas, selfie sticks, folding chairs, and inflatable balls.

Bringing outside food and beverages into the stadiums is prohibited except for a single transparent, empty plastic bottle not exceeding one liter in capacity, which can be refilled inside the sports facility.

Security instructions also prohibit loud noisemakers and cheering devices, such as vuvuzelas. Large and non-transparent bags are banned as well, with only transparent bags or small purses allowed according to the size specifications set by the organizing committee.

The restrictions extend to electronic devices and professional photography and recording equipment, drones, camera sticks, laser devices, and any tools that could obstruct crowd movement or pose a safety risk.

Regarding fireworks, smoke bombs, and flares, FIFA stated that possession of any such items inside the stadiums will result in immediate ejection from the stands, with the possibility of arrest and legal action against violators.

The organizing committee also alerted fans traveling to Mexico about additional restrictions on electronic cigarettes and modern smoking devices. Mexican authorities enforce strict regulations in this area, with penalties that may include hefty fines or severe legal measures in certain cases.

These measures form part of a comprehensive security plan designed to ensure a safe environment for the millions of fans expected to attend the tournament matches and to guarantee that the global event is conducted according to the highest safety and security standards.
