Kylian Mbappé Confirms Readiness for 2026 World Cup Semifinal After Morocco Match
Kylian Mbappé assured fans he is fit to play in the 2026 World Cup semifinal following his injury and substitution against Morocco in the quarterfinals.

Kylian Mbappé, the French football star, reassured supporters of the national team regarding the injury he sustained during the 2026 World Cup quarterfinal match against Morocco, confirming his availability for the upcoming semifinal.
France secured its place in the tournament's semifinals by defeating Morocco 2-0 in a match held as part of the competition hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Mbappé opened the scoring early in the second half, with Ousmane Dembélé adding a second goal later in the match.
Concerns arose after Mbappé fell twice on the pitch and was subsequently substituted in the 77th minute, replaced by striker Jean-Philippe Mateta due to visible discomfort.
However, the French forward quickly alleviated worries in an interview with beIN Sports, explaining that he experienced ankle pain but described the injury as not serious. He stated, "Everything is fine, and I will be ready for the semifinal. I did not want to risk continuing the match after feeling the pain."
Mbappé also mentioned his encounter with close friend and Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi during the game, noting that their friendship was temporarily set aside during the match. He added, "On the field, there is no place for emotions, but it will be difficult to see him sad after the game, as he is one of my closest friends."
Continuing to make history at the 2026 World Cup, Mbappé increased his total World Cup goals to 20 across three tournaments by scoring his eighth goal in the current edition.
This achievement places Mbappé tied with Argentine star Lionel Messi as the top scorers of the 2026 World Cup, each with eight goals. He is now just one goal shy of matching Messi's all-time World Cup scoring record, with both their teams still competing for the title.
