Portugal Players Wear Bracelets Honoring Diogo Jota at 2026 World Cup
Portugal's national team wears special bracelets in all matches and training sessions at the 2026 World Cup to honor late star Diogo Jota.

The Portugal national football team has chosen to wear special bracelets during all their matches and training sessions at the 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, as a tribute to their late star Diogo Jota.
Before departing for the United States, Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro presented each player with a bracelet featuring the colors green and red. The bracelets bear the names of all the national team players along with the inscription "Tribute to Jota," commemorating the Portugal and Liverpool forward who passed away in July 2025 following a severe car accident in Spain.
During the team's first press conference at their camp in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Portugal midfielder Vitinha expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, stating, "We really value this."
Vitinha also revealed that the Prime Minister "gave us the freedom to decide whether to wear it and how to wear it," emphasizing that the players collectively agreed to wear the bracelets throughout the tournament, including during training sessions and matches.
