Government Measures for World Cup Opening

In preparation for the World Cup opening, Mexico's president Claudia Sheinbaum announced that federal employees in Mexico City will work remotely on June 11. Additionally, all educational institutions will suspend classes across all levels on that day to reduce expected congestion coinciding with the tournament's launch.

This government initiative aims to facilitate transportation and enhance traffic safety as Mexico City hosts the opening match along with several related events anticipated to attract large crowds.

The decision mandates that federal government agencies implement work-from-home arrangements for employees residing in the capital, while essential sectors such as healthcare, security, infrastructure, and tournament-related activities will continue their operations.

The suspension of classes applies to public and private educational institutions from kindergartens through universities. The government also encouraged private sector organizations to adopt flexible measures, including remote work, to alleviate road network pressure during the opening events.
