World Cup 2026
Vinicius Jr. Cites Morocco's Defense and Early Goal Shock as Key Challenges
Vinicius Jr. highlighted Morocco's strong defense and the early goal shock as factors that limited Brazil's chances in their World Cup opener.

Vinicius Jr., the Brazilian national team's star, affirmed his full readiness to handle the additional pressures encountered during the current World Cup, noting that he now possesses greater experience to manage all situations and support his team.
These remarks came after Vinicius Jr. received the best player award in the opening group stage match between Brazil and Morocco.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Vinicius analyzed Brazil's opening game, describing the draw as an acceptable result in a match that presented significant challenges for the Seleção. The team had to respond strongly, aided by a goal from Vinicius himself, which salvaged a draw at MetLife Stadium in New York.
Discussing the pressures of the opening match, Vinicius said, "The style of play and tactics change completely after conceding a goal in the early minutes; however, we managed to open up the field more and maintain possession. The pressures in opening matches are always like this."
Regarding his adaptation to the current conditions compared to the past, the Real Madrid player stated, "In the previous World Cup, I was very young, but now I have more experience. Although I face more pressure, I believe I am ready for everything that will happen in this tournament. The pitch is different, and the weather is very hot. We have to adapt because everything happens very fast."
On the difficulties Brazil faced in controlling the game, Vinicius explained, "The coach asked us to have more possession, to rotate the ball and move it from side to side. I think we succeeded in that, but we could not create many additional chances because the Moroccan team defended very well."
He concluded, "What we experienced against Morocco is typical of major competitions. We need to adapt to improve our performance from this moment on. We must analyze this match carefully. Undoubtedly, there are positive aspects, but we have to keep progressing because the next match is very close, and we must win it no matter the cost."
