Chemical Burns Reported After Explosion at Washington Industrial Facility

Multiple people were injured, including cases of chemical burns, after an explosion involving a chemical storage tank at an industrial facility in Washington state, local authorities reported.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at a site operated by Nippon Dynawave Packaging in Longview, according to the city's fire department, which classified the event as a "hazardous materials incident," as reported by ABC News.

Authorities indicated the explosion took place at 7:18 a.m. local time when a tank containing a chemical treatment substance collapsed. Initially described as a chemical explosion, the nature of the event was later clarified.

The fire department stated that several individuals, including workers who suffered chemical burns, were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. The severity of their injuries has not been disclosed.

Firefighting teams and hazardous materials units remain on site, working alongside facility personnel to manage the leaked substances and secure the area.

Officials emphasized there is currently no direct threat to nearby residents but advised the public to avoid the vicinity while emergency response operations continue.

The facility is located near the border between Washington and Oregon states, close to the Columbia River, and specializes in paper manufacturing and liquid packaging, according to official records.
