Residents on Qeshm Island in southern Iran reported hearing explosions on Tuesday, which officials later attributed to the disposal of unexploded munitions. Ahmad Nafisi, deputy governor of Hormozgan province for security affairs, explained that specialized teams carried out the controlled detonations across several areas of the island.

Nafisi told Tasnim news agency that the series of blasts, which caused concern among locals, were part of technical procedures to neutralize hazardous ordnance safely. This incident marks the second time in 24 hours that explosions have been heard on Qeshm Island. The previous day, Iranian media reported similar sounds linked to unidentified small drones operating over the area.
