Germany's Ministry of Economy intends to create a strategic gas reserve valued at €1.5 billion, covering about 10% of the country's gas storage capacity.

The German Ministry of Economy is preparing to establish a strategic gas reserve worth €1.5 billion, according to Reuters.
The planned gas reserve will have a capacity of approximately 24 terawatt-hours, representing nearly 10% of the total gas storage capacity across Germany.
The cabinet is expected to approve the project by mid-August, with storage costs distributed over 2027 and 2028. Annual expenses are estimated between €150 million and €180 million, financed through fees imposed on gas consumers.
