The UK Health Agency reported 2,877 heat-related deaths during May and June 2026, nearly doubling last year's total.

The United Kingdom's Health Agency announced that an abnormal heatwave in the country during May and June resulted in 2,877 deaths.
According to a statement from the Health Agency, "During the hot weather periods in May and June 2026, 2,877 heat-related deaths were recorded." The agency noted that this figure is twice the number of heat-related deaths registered during the entire previous year.
The agency also indicated that the 2022 record, which saw 2,985 deaths due to heat, is expected to be surpassed by the end of this year.
