The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced it had struck headquarters of "terrorist" groups located in Sulaymaniyah within the Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq, as reported by the news agency Irna via Telegram.

Irna stated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted the bases of anti-Islamic Republic of Iran groups stationed in Sulaymaniyah, northern Iraq.

The Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which operates under autonomous governance, hosts camps and rear bases controlled by Iranian Kurdish factions opposed to Tehran. Iran labels these groups as terrorist organizations and accuses them of serving American and Israeli interests.

Since the onset of the conflict in the Middle East, Iran has targeted Iranian Kurdish groups in this area.

On April 22, three fighters from the Iranian Kurdish opposition party, the Kurdistan Freedom Party, based in the Kurdistan Region, were injured in a drone attack. The party attributed responsibility for the attack to Iran.
