Iran Threatens to Target Vital Energy Facilities in Israel and US Following Trump's Warning
An Iranian official announced plans to retaliate against US threats by targeting critical energy infrastructure in Israel and the US within the region.
A senior Iranian official stated on Saturday that Iran's response plan to the US threat of targeting its energy facilities will focus on vital infrastructure belonging to Israel and the United States in the region.
The official told Tasnim News Agency that Iran has prepared a comprehensive plan to respond to any "potential American recklessness," describing reports about possible US and Israeli attacks on Iranian infrastructure as "a form of recklessness."
Earlier on Saturday morning, senior US administration officials revealed, in statements reported by major newspapers, that President Donald Trump approved a plan involving severe and extensive attacks against Iran, which could pave the way for a gradual collapse of the Iranian regime.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that Minister Abbas Araghchi informed his British counterpart during a phone call that the United States violated its commitments under the memorandum of understanding and obstructed its implementation.
According to a ministry statement, Araghchi clarified to the British minister that the current situation in the region is due to American-Israeli aggression, emphasizing that interference by third parties in transit mechanisms through the Strait of Hormuz would complicate the existing circumstances.
During the call, Araghchi confirmed Iran’s intention to establish operational mechanisms to manage navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman.
Concurrently, Mohammad Zolghadr, Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council, warned that the continuation of the US maritime blockade will result in the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz and other straits.
Zolghadr stressed that the global economy, energy markets, and American voters will bear the cost of the military escalation led by Washington in the region, according to his remarks.
